Site Manager

Cumbria

£55,000–£65,000 + car or car allowance + pension + healthcare + living-away allowance

Tier 1 Contractor

Opportunity

Are you a Site Manager looking to take on a broad and influential role with an established main contractor in Cumbria?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager to join an experienced project team delivering a substantial and technically demanding development. Working as the number two on site beneath the Senior Site Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of the project rather than being restricted to a single package or section.

The successful Site Manager will help coordinate day-to-day construction activities, manage subcontractors and maintain progress against the programme. You will work closely with the Senior Site Manager, design team, commercial team and wider project stakeholders to ensure the scheme is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Previous school, education or Department for Education experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. Applications are welcomed from Site Manager candidates with strong main contractor experience across commercial, healthcare, residential, public-sector or other complex new-build developments.

Responsibilities

As Site Manager, you will support the Senior Site Manager with the overall management and coordination of the project.

You will manage subcontractors across multiple trades, review short-term programmes, coordinate site logistics and ensure work is completed in line with drawings, specifications and quality requirements. The Site Manager will also lead daily briefings, monitor productivity and identify potential programme or delivery issues before they affect progress.

This is a hands-on Site Manager position that requires you to undertake all aspects of project delivery. You may be coordinating structural works one day and supporting internal finishes, external works, logistics, quality inspections or commissioning activities the next.

You will maintain high health, safety and environmental standards, complete site inspections and ensure subcontractors follow agreed working methods. The Site Manager will also help manage design information, raise technical queries and contribute to progress meetings and project reporting.

What’s in it for you

The Site Manager position offers a salary of £55,000–£65,000, depending on experience, plus a car or car allowance, pension and healthcare.

Candidates based in Cumbria or the surrounding area would be well suited to the role. However, experienced Site Manager candidates from further afield will also be considered, with living-away allowances available where required.

You will join a supportive project team, gain exposure to every stage of construction and have a clear opportunity to progress towards Senior Site Manager and Project Manager positions.
