Paint Sprayer / Paint Technician

Location: GKN Aerospace, Filton, Bristol
Duration: 12 Months Ongoing
Standard Hours: 35 per week

SHIFTS & PAY
  • Training (Core Days): Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 4:15pm (30-minute unpaid lunch)
    Rate: £20.17 per hour

  • 7 Day Fort Day Shift (post-training):

    • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday
    • Week 2: Thursday & Friday
    • Hours: 7:00am to 5:30pm
    • Rotating weekly
    • Rate: £25.21 per hour
  • Overtime: £30.26 per hour

KEY SKILLS
  • LEVEL 3 QUALIFICATION IN A PAINT-RELATED DISCIPLINE IS ESSENTIAL, such as an NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent Paint Spraying / Surface Finishing qualification.
  • A recognised paint spraying indentured apprenticeship and ideally have previous manufacturing experience in a factory environment.

 

PROFILE

To operate as a multi-skilled, flexible worker to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency. Tasks will be undertaken and worked through the use of:

  • Spraying
  • Paint touch up and cleaning requiring the use of:
    • Power tooling
    • Solvents and primer paints are required
KEY DELIVERABLES
  • Ensure parts are produced on a 'right first time' basis
  • Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
  • Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
  • Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
  • Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
  • Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
  • To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
  • Responsible for general housekeeping within the area
KEY SKILLS
  • A recognised paint spraying indentured apprenticeship and ideally have previous manufacturing experience in a factory environment
  • Ability to work to standard operating procedures
  • Must be able to work in small teams with Process Team Leaders
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives
  • Self-motivated team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude
