Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Salary: £30,000 – £37,000 per annum + approximately £3,000 annual bonus but paid monthly
An established and growing medical technology business is looking to recruit an experienced SMT Technician to join its electronics manufacturing team at its impressive facility on the outskirts of Aylesbury.
This is a hands-on position for an experienced SMT technician professional who is comfortable operating a complete SMT production line independently and taking PCB assemblies through the manufacturing process from start to finish.
The business designs and manufactures innovative surgical devices and has a strong focus on research and development, including both hardware and software development. It works closely with leading academic institutions on a number of innovative development projects.
SMT Technician Reposibilities
Working as part of an established electronics manufacturing team, you will be responsible for producing PCB assemblies to a consistently high standard and ensuring works orders are completed efficiently and in accordance with quality and ESD requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:

Operating the complete SMT production line independently, including solder paste printing, SPI, pick and place, reflow and AOI.

Processing PCBA works orders from start through to completion with minimal supervision.

Reviewing and classifying AOI results and identifying defects or manufacturing issues.
-
Carrying out soldering and component rework to a high standard where required.

Inspecting completed PCB assemblies and identifying quality concerns before products progress to the next manufacturing stage.

Maintaining a clean, organised and compliant ESD Protected Area (EPA).

Handling ESD-sensitive and Moisture Sensitive Devices correctly.

Managing electronic component stock, including goods-in, storage, handling and reconditioning where required.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the manufacturing and engineering teams to maintain quality and production standards.
Experience Required
To be considered for this position, you should have:
-
A minimum of 3 years' experience working with SMT production equipment.

Hands-on experience across the key stages of an SMT line, including:
-
Solder paste printing
-
SPI
-
Pick and place
-
Reflow
-
AOI
-
-
The ability to run SMT works orders from start to finish with minimal supervision.

Experience reviewing and classifying AOI results.
-
Good soldering and electronic component rework skills.
-
Experience working within an ESD Protected Area.
-
Knowledge of the correct handling of ESD-sensitive components and Moisture Sensitive Devices.
-
Experience managing or handling electronic component inventory.
Desirable Experience
Any of the following would be advantageous, although they are not essential:

MYCRONIC equipment, particularly MY700, MYPI, MY300, MYTower or MYCenter.

Solder paste jet printing systems.

Asscon VP2100 or other vapour-phase reflow equipment.
-
Koh Young AOI systems.
-
Soldering and rework to IPC Class 2 or above.

Flying probe test systems.
-
Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
