Solar PV Electrician / Hemel Hempstead, On Site / £51,000 Per Annum + Discretionary Bonus

Sola Renewable Company, a fast-growing renewable energy company, is seeking an experienced Solar PV Electrician. The role will involve installing, testing, commissioning and certifying solar PV systems, battery storage, home backup equipment and EV chargers.

The successful candidate will be driven, dependable and technically confident, with strong electrical knowledge and a minimum of three years’ practical electrical installation experience. They must also have at least one year’s experience installing battery storage systems. This is a great opportunity to become a key member of Sola’s growing in-house team.

Key Requirements of the Solar PV Electrician Role:

  • Carry out the electrical installation, connection, testing and commissioning of domestic and selected commercial solar PV systems.
  • Install and commission hybrid inverters, battery storage systems, gateways and whole-home backup equipment.
  • Install consumer units, protective devices, AC isolators, surge protection, submains, containment, earthing and bonding arrangements.
  • Complete initial verification, test schedules, Electrical Installation Certificates, Minor Works Certificates and EICRs where applicable.
  • Be willing and able to act as Sola’s proposed Qualified Supervisor, subject to NICEIC assessment and acceptance, and support the company’s NICEIC application.
  • Review surveys, designs, cable routes, cable sizes, protective devices, isolation, earthing arrangements and equipment locations before installation.
  • Lead the electrical work on site, coordinate with the roof team and subcontractors, and ensure work is completed safely and to specification.
  • Communicate clearly with customers, provide progress updates and explain system operation during handover.
  • Diagnose electrical and system faults, complete remedial work and provide clear technical findings to customers and the office team.
  • Help improve installation methods, electrical checklists, technical records and quality-control procedures as the company grows.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • A recognised Level 3 electrotechnical qualification, including NVQ Level 3 and AM2 and GOLD Card.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic electrical installations with a minimum of three years’ practical electrical installation experience.
  • A minimum of three years’ electrical installation experience and one year’s hands-on experience installing and commissioning battery storage systems is required.
  • A current Level 3 qualification in BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations.
  • A recognised Level 3 inspection and testing qualification, such as C&G 2391-52 or an accepted equivalent.
  • Recognised qualifications for installing solar PV and electrical energy storage systems.
  • Current or previous experience as an NICEIC Qualified Supervisor is highly desirable. Otherwise, the candidate must be able to demonstrate the competence and experience required for assessment.
  • Experience installing Sigenergy battery and gateway equipment and Tesla Powerwall systems is desirable.
  • A full UK Driving Licence is required, with flexibility to travel to customer sites using the company van.
  • Reliable, organised and motivated to develop within a fast-growing renewable energy company.

  • Takes responsibility for the safety, quality, testing and certification of the electrical work completed on each project.
  • Identifies technical and site challenges early and takes appropriate action to resolve them efficiently.
  • Maintains high standards of workmanship, accurate documentation and neat presentation across every installation.

What You Will Gain:

  • A salary of £51,000 per year, discretionary bonus, company phone and 28 days’ paid annual holiday.

  • Working hours of Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (30-minute lunch break) 37.5 hours per week.
  • Installation days begin on-site at 8:00 am. This may require attendance at the office between 6:00–7:00 am for preparation, loading and travel.
  • Employees may accrue time off in lieu for hours worked in excess of their standard contractual hours. This is subject to management approval and operational requirements.
