Protocol Education are currently recruiting for a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant to support students within a secondary school in Middlesbrough from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with an interest in speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). The successful candidate will provide targeted support to secondary-aged students, working on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to help students develop their communication skills, confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged students
- Support students with speech, language and communication needs
- Help students develop their communication, confidence and social skills
- Deliver or support targeted interventions as directed by teaching staff or specialists
- Adapt support to meet individual students' needs
- Encourage students to engage positively with learning
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO and other support staff
- Monitor and provide feedback on student progress
- Promote independence and positive behaviour
- Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable
- Experience with speech, language or communication needs would be advantageous
- Patient, empathetic and able to build strong relationships with students
- Confident supporting both 1:1 and small-group activities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, proactive and adaptable
- A genuine commitment to supporting students with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
