We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist education provider for a Speech and Language Therapist.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing a specialist service supporting young people with autism and learning disabilities. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan and deliver evidence-based interventions that promote communication, independence and positive educational outcomes.

The Role

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will manage a varied caseload of students with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs, including complex presentations. You will work closely with education staff, therapists, families and external professionals to provide high-quality, person-centred support.

You will also receive structured clinical supervision and ongoing professional development to support your continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out specialist speech, language and communication assessments.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy programmes tailored to each student's needs.
  • Develop communication profiles, strategies and personalised intervention plans.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets and reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external agencies to achieve the best outcomes for students.
  • Provide advice, guidance and training to staff, families and carers on communication strategies and the use of AAC where appropriate.
  • Identify students requiring specialist assessment, including referrals for dysphagia or communication aids.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, reports and outcome measures in line with professional standards.
  • Participate in annual reviews, multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audit and service development initiatives.
  • Ensure practice complies with HCPC, RCSLT and SEND Code of Practice guidance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration (or eligibility to register).
  • Experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities and complex communication needs.
  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • An understanding of AAC and evidence-based communication strategies.
  • Awareness of dysphagia and appropriate referral pathways.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and collaborative working skills.
  • A commitment to delivering person-centred care and improving outcomes for young people.
