Smile Education are recruiting for a Sports Coach to work within a secondary school in Oldham.
This role is suitable for sports coaches, PE graduates, aspiring teachers or candidates with experience working with young people through sport, coaching, education or youth work.
The Role
As a Sports Coach, you will support PE lessons and school sports activities while also supervising pre-set lessons across KS3 and KS4 when teaching staff are absent.
You will not be expected to plan or mark lessons. The focus is on managing behaviour, keeping pupils engaged and maintaining a positive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise pre-planned lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Support PE lessons, sports activities and enrichment.
- Manage behaviour and keep pupils focused.
- Follow lesson instructions and school behaviour policies.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Support wider school activities where required.
- Provide feedback to teaching staff after lessons.
- Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Experience in sports coaching, PE, education or youth work is required.
- You must be confident working with pupils aged 11–16.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills are essential.
- Previous Cover Supervisor or school experience is desirable but not essential.
- Sports, PE and related graduates are encouraged to apply.
- You must be reliable, adaptable and professional.
- You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
- £100–£130 per day, paid weekly.
- ASAP start available.
