About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, energetic and enthusiastic Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Hillingdon.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a sports, coaching, education or youth work background who is looking to develop their career within a school environment. The successful candidate will combine their passion for sport with classroom support, helping pupils develop their confidence, teamwork, communication, behaviour and engagement.
You will work closely with teachers and support staff, providing classroom assistance as well as leading and supporting sports, physical activities and structured games. The role would suit someone who is enthusiastic, positive and confident working with children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils in the classroom, working with individuals and small groups.
- Assist teachers with learning activities, classroom organisation and pupil engagement.
- Use sport and physical activity to encourage teamwork, confidence, discipline and positive behaviour.
- Lead and support sports sessions, games and physical activities.
- Encourage pupils to participate in activities and develop a positive attitude towards exercise.
- Support pupils who may require additional help with their learning, behaviour or social development.
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
- Promote good behaviour and maintain clear boundaries and expectations.
- Support pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes and wider school activities.
- Adapt activities to meet different abilities, confidence levels and individual needs.
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent support.
- Help create a positive, safe and engaging environment for pupils.
- Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement to help pupils develop their confidence and independence.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children or young people through sport, coaching, education, youth work or similar.
- A genuine passion for sport and physical activity.
- Confidence engaging and motivating children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive, energetic and proactive personality.
- The ability to build strong relationships with pupils while maintaining professional boundaries.
- A patient and adaptable approach.
- Experience supporting behaviour or SEN would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A relevant sports/coaching qualification or Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
- DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
