Stakeholder & Public Liaison Officer - 12 month FTC

Elvet Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with an established construction and civil engineering business to recruit a Stakeholder & Public Liaison Officer on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and organised individual to take on a key public-facing role supporting infrastructure projects across the region. You’ll act as an important link between the project team and local communities, ensuring communications are handled professionally, efficiently and with a high level of customer service.

The successful candidate will be approachable, resilient and highly organised, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to deal with a wide range of stakeholders, including challenging situations.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Act as a key point of contact for members of the public, businesses and stakeholders affected by construction activity
• Manage the dedicated project email account, responding to enquiries, compliments and complaints in a timely and professional manner
• Accurately record and monitor stakeholder contact, complaints, incidents and claims
• Arrange visits with members of the public and businesses directly impacted by construction works
• Act as the first point of contact within the project visitor centre/site office when required
• Organise and facilitate visitor centre events, including schools, universities and industry visits
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports for the Site Team, client and Communications Team
• Attend monthly progress meetings, providing updates on stakeholder communications and any emerging issues
• Liaise with the Site Team and Communications Team regarding project website updates
• Provide guidance to site teams on effectively communicating with the public and handling conflict
• Assist with PR, community and social value events
• Support the wider Communications Team with general communications activity
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, safeguarding and GDPR compliance

What We're Looking For:

• At least 2 years' experience within a customer service, administration, communications or similar environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Confident dealing with members of the public and managing potentially challenging situations
• Good IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office
• A proactive, approachable and professional manner
• Ability to work independently and use your own initiative
• Full UK driving licence – essential
• Willingness to travel across the region when required

Desirable:

• Previous experience within communications, PR or marketing
• Experience updating customer-facing websites
• Understanding of social media platforms
• Previous construction or infrastructure experience
• Relevant qualification
