Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Steel Fixer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and fixing steel reinforcement bars in concrete structures, ensuring the integrity and safety of our building projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality projects across commercial and industrial sites, with a focus on safety and precision.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical plans to determine the placement of reinforcement steel.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and assemble steel reinforcement bars using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment as necessary.
  • Fix steel bars securely in position using appropriate fastening methods, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications.
  • Assist with the transportation and positioning of heavy steel components around the site.
  • Collaborate with other trades such as carpenters to ensure seamless integration of reinforcement within the construction process.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Perform routine inspections of steelwork for quality assurance before concrete pouring.
  • Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues with reinforcement installation or related equipment.

Skills

  • Proven experience in fixing pile caps, beams and ground floor slabs. .
  • Proficiency with hand tools such as pliers, hammers, measuring tapes, and levels.
  • Competence in using power tools including grinders, drills, and cutting machines.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge relevant to construction activities involving steel reinforcement.
  • Experience in carpentry is advantageous for understanding structural frameworks.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling steel materials or equipment.
  • Valid commercial driving license is preferred for transporting materials between sites.
  • Knowledge of masonry techniques can be beneficial for integrated construction tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail; able to follow technical drawings accurately.
