Role: Stores Supervisor

Location: Sandy, Bedfordshire

Salary: Up to £36,000 (DOE)

Hours: (full-time, 39 hours per week)
Monday: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
Tuesday: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
Wednesday: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm
Thursday: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm
Friday: 7:30 am – 12:00 noon (unless working overtime)

 

Duties of a Stores Supervisor:
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the Stores function, including the receipt, storage, issue, and movement of materials and tooling.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and material traceability using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Monitor stock levels, conduct stock checks, and resolve discrepancies to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Manage goods inwards and despatch activities, ensuring deliveries and shipments are processed accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding material availability, shortages, and non-conforming goods.
  • Support production by ensuring materials and job kits are prepared and issued in line with manufacturing schedules.
  • Supervise and support Stores personnel, allocating workloads to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety, and compliance within the Stores area.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to stock control, material flow, and storage processes.
  • Carry out deliveries, collections, and provide support to other departments as required.
  • Undertake any additional duties as reasonably requested by management.
What we would like from you:

Essential:

  • Previous experience within a Stores, Warehouse, Logistics, or Inventory Control environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Good understanding of stock control procedures and material traceability.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good numerical and literacy skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
  • Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift Truck Licence (training can be provided if required).
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
