Sub Agent
Ganymede Solutions
Sub Agent – Water Infrastructure
Surrey | Contract | Up to £380 per day | IR35 TBC
The Project
A significant water infrastructure programme delivering major upgrades across treatment and network assets across Surrey, the kind of project where a capable Sub Agent can make a real difference and build a strong long-term relationship with a contractor who has plenty of work ahead.
The Role
As Sub Agent you will sit between the site management team and the engineering function, taking ownership of day-to-day delivery across your work packages, coordinating site teams, managing subcontractors, driving programme, and ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained throughout. You will be trusted to run your section with a degree of autonomy.
This is the right role for someone who is ready to step beyond pure engineering and take genuine management responsibility or for an experienced Sub Agent who wants to be part of a well-structured, properly resourced scheme rather than being spread too thin.
What You Will Be Doing
- Taking day-to-day ownership of site operations across allocated work packages
- Managing and coordinating subcontractors, direct labour, and site teams
- Monitoring programme and production, identifying risks and taking corrective action early
- Reviewing and approving RAMS, ITPs, and method statements
- Administering NEC contract communications including compensation events and early warnings
- Maintaining quality, safety, and environmental standards across all works
- Supporting the commercial team with cost monitoring, valuations, and change management
- Liaising with designers, client representatives, and stakeholders
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and site staff
What You Will Need
- Proven experience as a Sub Agent, Senior Site Engineer, or Section Engineer on civil engineering or infrastructure schemes
- Water sector experience desirable — treatment works, pipework, drainage, pumping stations, or similar
- Solid NEC contract knowledge including compensation events and early warnings
- Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing subcontractors
- Ability to monitor and drive programme delivery across multiple concurrent activities
- SMSTS, CSCS Black or Gold Card, and First Aid at Work
- EUSR Water Hygiene desirable
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification desirable
- Full UK driving licence
