Job Title: Sub Agent - VRS & Signage Works
Location: Gloucester
Contract Type: Contract - Initial 6 Months (Scope for Extension)
Rate: £520 per day (PAYE/Umbrella)

The Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sub Agent to join a highways infrastructure project in Gloucester, taking responsibility for the delivery of Vehicle Restraint System (VRS) and signage installation works. This role is suited to a proactive, safety-focused engineer with strong supervisory experience, capable of managing subcontractors and driving quality, programme and commercial performance across a dedicated works package.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily VRS and signage installation activities
  • Supervise subcontractors and site operatives
  • Ensure works are completed safely and on programme
  • Check RAMS are in place and followed
  • Carry out site safety inspections
  • Monitor quality of installations against drawings and specifications
  • Coordinate traffic management requirements
  • Ensure correct setting out and installation of barriers and signs
  • Order and manage materials, plant, and labour resources
  • Attend site and progress meetings
  • Liaise with the client, designers, and stakeholders
  • Keep accurate site records and daily reports
  • Monitor progress and resolve site issues
  • Identify and report risks, delays, and changes
  • Assist with commercial tracking and variations
  • Ensure all quality paperwork and handover records are completed
  • Support the Site Agent/Project Manager in delivering the project safely, on time, and within budget


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Sub Agent, Section Engineer, or similar supervisory role on highways/infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of VRS (Vehicle Restraint Systems) and signage installation
  • Experience managing subcontractors and site operatives
  • Solid understanding of RAMS, site safety inspections, and traffic management coordination
  • Working knowledge of setting out and quality control against design drawings/specifications
  • Valid CSCS card


Desirable

  • SMSTS
  • Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor experience
  • Experience on National Highways or major roads schemes
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and commercial/variation tracking
