Supply Chain Manager - 18 month contract - Portsmouth Naval Base, Hampshire - £56.62 ph UMB or £42 ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). The Role

To work with the Commercial, Operations and Engineering teams to provide a resource to plan, select, negotiate, purchase, expedite and make available materials to meet stringent project cost, quality and timescales requirements relating to the Ship Repair Delivery business stream.

Working with the relevant Category Manager, implement contracts and contract amendments for subcontracted services and enabling agreements to provide business risk assurance and value for money commitments. To contribute to the development of the warship support supply chain function to harness opportunities for operations delivery, the function and BAE wide strategic initiatives. To provide governance for all processes associated with the supply of materials. To manage a team of procurement professionals

Role Responsibilities:

Not limited to…

  • To execute all material procurements in conjunction with the Engineering, Operations and Project Management teams making sure timescales and lead times are embedded in the project plan
  • To select appropriate make/buy and implement category / supplier solutions developed by the category team
  • To work closely with the category managers to ensure contracted terms and value for money solutions are delivered and providing the best solutions for the business, that combines least cost, risk, with highest quality schedule compliance.
  • To identify potential risks and issues and work with the wider team to find resolutions.
  • To provide regular progress reports against deliverables and ensure as appropriate lead / support supplier performance reviews and provide supplier performance information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop a communications structure to manage supply chain status, performance, and critical issues management within a project and functional management structure.
  • Ensure full compliance with BAE Systems Maritime Services supply chain processes, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all quality requirements and standards are met in the delivery of all work packages and ensure the relevant quality control measures are adhered to
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with all key stakeholders, including customer and suppliers, maintaining regular communication and managing expectations

  • The role requires excellent and broad Supply Chain knowledge and a breadth of business knowledge and expertise, including good business, market and competitor knowledge as well as depth of vision and creativity and an ability to contribute to the development of Supply Chain strategies to support business objectives
  • Supply Chain functional people, process and performance knowledge to develop the function using enabling technologies to exceed or meet the business objectives
  • MCIPS or working towards MCIPS
