Support Worker

We have 2 part time vacancies in Paisley. One is a 28 hour post ( 4 days x 7 hours ) and the other is 21 hours ( 3 days x 7 hours ). Both positions require you to be able to work these hours over 7 days on a shift rota basis. Ideally, you should have a Health and Social Care background and have experience of working with people with complex learning disabilites.

You will be expected to create environments where the people we support can develop interests, skills, and relationships to enable them to live fulfilling lives in their local community. The job is hard work but extremely rewarding.

Responsibilities/day to day duties:

• Work with our people to create a friendly and happy environment
• Provide physical & emotional support
• Understand the individual needs and offer guidance
• Encourage and help develop skills
• Assist with medical & welfare needs 
• Provide personal care if required
• Attend reviews to discuss health and well being
• Accompany individuals on outings
• Liaise with relatives and staff members
• Maintain a safe and clean place to live

Requirements:

• Willing to undertake SVQ qualification and attend all training
• Able to show compassion, dignity and respect
• Understand and consider the needs of others
• Must be a good listener 
• Be an excellent communicator – written and oral
• Experience of working with people with complex learning disabilities would be an advantage however not essential, as we offer excellent Induction and on-going training for all staff
• Ideally have SVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care
• A driving licence would also be desirable

Working together with the people we support can make a real difference to their lives. Some of our services may require sleep over and overnight holidays.

Successful Support Workers will benefit from the following;

• A pay rate of at least *£13.45 p/hr, increasing to at least £114.56 p/hr after 3 years’ service. *(starting rate is negotiable dependent on experience)
