## Job Description: Support Worker (Male) — NG7 Area

### About the Role
Support Worker required to provide person-centred, calm and proactive support to individuals in the NG7 area. The role is suitable for a male support worker with direct, practical experience supporting people with complex neurodiverse needs and associated emotional regulation challenges.

This role includes hands-on support, community presence, and structured routines, with a strong emphasis on non-restrictive practice, positive approaches, and inclusive support, including LGBTQ+ inclusion.

### Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related communication and sensory needs.
  • Provide consistent support for individuals with ADHD and, ideally, experience with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
  • Use trauma-informed practice, recognising the impact of trauma, attachment difficulties, and disrupted childhoods on behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Apply Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles (or demonstrate a proactive, non-restrictive mindset even without formal PBS training).
  • De-escalate anxiety/distress calmly and effectively, avoiding confrontation and using therapeutic, person-led strategies.
  • Support the person’s exploration of gender identity where applicable. Maintain confidence and competence with LGBTQ+ inclusive practice as this forms a genuine part of the role.
  • Promote independence, choice, dignity and safety through respectful day-to-day support.
  • Support with routines, activities, and community engagement, recording relevant observations as required.

### Essential Requirements / Experience

Direct experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Experience supporting individuals with ADHD (and ideally FASD). Evidence of trauma-informed practice and/or experience supporting people with attachment difficulties or disrupted childhoods. Experience of de-escalating anxiety/distress calmly without confrontation. Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) experience/training, or clear evidence of a proactive, non-restrictive approach to support even without formal PBS training. Demonstrable comfort and competence with LGBTQ+ inclusive practice, including supporting someone exploring gender identity.
