Support Worker (Care) – Llandovery
Are you passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker to join a vibrant residential service located in Llandovery, supporting young adults with learning difficulties, disabilities, and autism in a stunning 200-acre countryside environment.
This role offers a unique setting, shared with animals such as alpacas, sheep, and ducks, along with on-site facilities including a gym and shop. The service operates a structured 24-hour curriculum within a total communication environment, focusing on personalised, person-centred support to promote independence, life skills, and confidence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting individuals to develop independence, life skills, and confidence through person-centred planning.
- Providing respectful personal care (washing, dressing, toileting), always promoting privacy, dignity, and choice.
- Maintaining clear care documentation, including care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans, compliant with regulatory standards.
- Administering medication safely following standard procedures (training provided if required).
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure consistent support delivery.
- Assisting with domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and basic food preparation, as well as managing activity expenditures.
- Undertaking sleep-ins or wakeful night shifts (approximately once per week), supporting individuals with challenging behaviour when necessary.
The ideal candidate:
- No prior care experience is required—caring attitude and enthusiasm are key.
- Must have the right to work in the UK (please note, visa sponsorship is not available).
- Flexibility to work across shifts, including sleep-ins.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding, dignity, and person-centred care.
- Desirable: QCF Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care, which may support shift-leading duties; full training and funded qualifications provided for those new to care.
