- The Tail Lift Fitter will install, service, and repair a variety of commercial vehicle tail lifts, including column, tuckaway, cantilever, and passenger lifts
- Conduct LOLER inspections, ensuring all certification and documentation are compliant with UK safety standards
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including wiring, lighting circuits, and control units
- Repair hydraulic systems: hose replacements, ram repairs, pump servicing, and leak detection
- Assist in integrating tail lifts into new vehicle builds and conversions
- Perform thorough pre-delivery checks to guarantee safety and functionality
- Maintain detailed records of all services, repairs, and inspections
- Follow health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment
- Provide technical advice and support to colleagues and customers as needed
- The successful Tail Lift Fitter must hold valid LOLER certification and have proven experience, performing statutory inspections
- Strong knowledge of vehicle wiring, electrical fault-finding, and 12V/24V systems is essential
- Experience in hydraulic systems and components is required
- Previous experience fitting or maintaining tail lifts, mobility lifts, or similar equipment is necessary
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manuals is important
- A full UK driving licence is required
- Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive approach, and attention to detail are essential
- The Tail Lift Fitter must be capable of working independently and as part of a team
- Experience within coachbuilding, commercial vehicle bodywork, or automotive engineering
- Familiarity with major tail lift brands such as Dhollandia, Ratcliff, DEL, or Anteo
