Teaching Assistant – Secondary School
Location: Tower Hamlets, East London
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Hours: School hours, term-time only
Teaching Consultancy is recruiting a confident and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Tower Hamlets.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and would enjoy working within a busy secondary-school environment. The successful candidate will work with pupils individually and in small groups, helping them remain engaged, develop confidence and make progress in their learning.
The school is particularly interested in applicants who can serve as positive role models and build strong, professional relationships with pupils. Applications from men are particularly welcomed, as they are currently underrepresented in this area of the school’s support workforce. All appointments will be made on merit.
Key responsibilities:

Supporting pupils in lessons across a range of subjects

Providing one-to-one and small-group support

Helping pupils remain focused, engaged and motivated

Supporting students with additional learning or pastoral needs

Promoting positive behaviour and reinforcing the school’s expectations

Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SEND team

Helping to create a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment
The ideal candidate will:

Be confident working with secondary-school-aged pupils

Have a calm, patient and professional approach

Be able to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries

Be reliable, resilient and able to work as part of a team

Have good written and spoken English

Be committed to safeguarding and supporting the welfare of young people

Have previous experience working with children or young people
Experience in a school, youth work, mentoring, coaching, sports, care or another child-focused setting would be advantageous. Graduates interested in education, psychology, youth work or teaching are also encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will be subject to the school’s safeguarding and recruitment requirements, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and relevant right-to-work checks.
