The Role

Depending on your experience and the needs of the school, your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils within the classroom
  • Working with individuals or small groups
  • Assisting teachers with lessons and classroom activities
  • Supervising classes using pre-prepared work
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
  • Providing pastoral and emotional support
  • Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
  • Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
  • Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment

About You

We are looking for candidates who have previous experience working with children or young people in a school, education, care, youth work or support setting.

You should also have:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, supportive and professional approach
  • Confidence working with children and young people
  • The ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Good behaviour-management skills
  • A flexible and dependable attitude
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils' education and development
  • An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs, autism, emotional and behavioural needs or challenging behaviour would be particularly valuable.
