Makaton Trained Teaching Assistant - SEN School

Remedy Education are looking for a caring and confident Makaton Trained Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN school based in Woodford.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has experience supporting pupils with additional needs and can use Makaton to support communication, understanding and engagement. The school are looking for someone patient, proactive and reliable who can support pupils throughout the school day.

Position: Makaton Trained Teaching Assistant
Location: Woodford
Pay: £100-£117 per day
Hours: Full-time
Start Date: ASAP / September roles available

The Role:

As a Makaton Trained Teaching Assistant, you will:

* Support pupils with a range of special educational needs
* Use Makaton to support communication and understanding
* Work 1:1 and with small groups to help pupils access learning
* Support routines, transitions and emotional regulation
* Assist with sensory activities, communication work and classroom tasks
* Help create a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment
* Encourage confidence, independence and social interaction
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

* Makaton training or strong experience using Makaton
* Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN
* Experience with ASD, communication needs, non-verbal pupils or complex needs is desirable
* A calm, patient and nurturing approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Confidence working 1:1 and in small groups
* An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
