Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Brent - September 2026 Start - Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Brent seeking to appoint enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistants from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for graduates with experience working with teenagers who are looking to build valuable classroom experience and develop a career within education.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers, support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, and play an important role in creating an inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed.



The Role

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide academic, pastoral, and emotional support to students across the school.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a range of subjects.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to improve student progress, confidence, and engagement.
  • Supporting students with additional learning needs, including SEND where required.
  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities, lesson preparation, and learning resources.
  • Delivering targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, and subject-specific areas.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and active participation in learning.
  • Building strong, positive relationships with teenagers and acting as a trusted role model.
  • Supporting students with their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assisting with classroom management to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Supporting students during assessments and examinations where required.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support individual student needs.
  • Contributing to wider school activities and enrichment opportunities.

You should have:

  • A degree in any subject.
  • Previous experience working with teenagers or secondary-aged students (essential).
  • Experience in a school, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, coaching, or similar setting is desirable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A patient, positive, and adaptable approach.
  • Confidence supporting students with a range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with teaching staff.
  • A proactive approach to supporting student wellbeing and engagement.

This role is particularly suited to graduates considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, counselling, or other education-related professions.
