Make a Difference Every Day

Are you looking for a rewarding career where you can have a genuine impact on the lives of young people?

Simply Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist education setting for an enthusiastic and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team in the Gloucester area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them build confidence, develop independence and achieve their potential both inside and outside the classroom.

You don't necessarily need previous SEN experience. What matters most is your ability to build positive, professional and trusted relationships with young people, alongside a genuine desire to help them succeed.

What You'll Be Doing

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play an important part in creating a safe, positive and engaging environment where every young person feels supported and able to learn.

Your role will include:

  • Building warm, supportive and professional relationships with pupils, helping them feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, wellbeing and personal development.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Working alongside the Class Teacher to deliver engaging and differentiated learning activities.
  • Supporting pupils' social, emotional, behavioural, physical and cognitive development.
  • Using positive behaviour management strategies tailored to individual pupils.
  • Providing additional care and wellbeing support when required.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
  • Helping with the smooth day-to-day running of the classroom and wider school environment.
  • Completing relevant records and documentation relating to behaviour, incidents, health and pupil wellbeing.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is patient, positive, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting young people.

You don't need to have years of experience behind you. If you have the right attitude and are motivated to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.

You'll need:

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) - essential.
  • A genuine desire to support children and young people with additional needs.
  • The ability to build trusted and professional relationships.
  • A positive, creative and flexible approach.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
  • A commitment to treating every young person as an individual and putting their needs first.

Why Apply?

This isn't just another Teaching Assistant position. It's an opportunity to become an important part of a young person's journey.

You'll be joining a supportive specialist environment where small wins can become huge achievements - whether that's helping a pupil engage with a lesson, build their confidence, manage a challenging situation or start thinking positively about their future.

With a permanent, term-time-only contract, a salary of up to £25,068 and a £1,500 Welcome Bonus*, this could be the perfect opportunity to take the next step in your education career.
