Tradewind Recruitment

SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary Schools - Bury

Do you have experience supporting children with additional needs? Tradewind Recruitment is working with primary schools across Bury that require dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants.

The role will involve helping pupils access learning and supporting their wider development. Depending on the setting, you could be working with pupils with autism, ADHD, communication difficulties or other additional needs.

Some positions are classroom-based, while others involve providing more focused support to an individual pupil or small group.

The successful Teaching Assistant will:

  • Support pupils with additional educational needs
  • Work alongside the class teacher to adapt activities
  • Encourage communication and independence
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support
  • Assist with classroom routines
  • Promote positive behaviour
  • Help pupils access the curriculum
  • Develop trusting relationships with children

A calm, patient and consistent approach is particularly important. You should be able to respond appropriately when a pupil becomes overwhelmed and understand the importance of following individual support strategies.

Experience within a school, SEN setting, care environment or similar role would be advantageous.

You should have:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people
  • An understanding of additional needs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Patience and resilience
  • A nurturing approach
  • The ability to work closely with teachers and other professionals

Tradewind can offer both daily supply and longer-term SEN assignments, depending on your availability and experience.

You'll receive support from a dedicated consultant, competitive rates of pay and access to relevant CPD opportunities.

If you're passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and would like to work in primary schools across Bury, we'd like to hear from you.
