About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and academically confident SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Surbiton, supporting students with Autism (ASD).
This is a highly academic environment where students work towards GCSE and A Level qualifications. You will provide targeted classroom and individual support, helping students access the curriculum, prepare for assessments and develop the independence and confidence needed to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with ASD

Support students across the academic curriculum

Reinforce subject content and assist with GCSE and A Level preparation

Help students develop organisation, concentration and study skills

Adapt support and communication approaches to individual needs
-
Encourage independence, confidence and engagement

Build positive and professional relationships with students
-
Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
-
Experience supporting students with ASD
-
Strong academic ability and confidence supporting secondary-level learning
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Patient, calm and adaptable approach
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service

Right to Work in the UK
Desirable:
-
Experience working in a specialist SEN school

Experience supporting GCSE or A Level students

Strong subject knowledge in one or more academic subjects

Understanding of autism and neurodiversity
-
Experience supporting exam preparation or coursework
