Contract: Long-term with Daily Opportunities available.

Salary: £462.80 – £550 per week (dependent on experience and scale point).

The School & Role

Vision for Education is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support pupils in primary schools across the Denton area of Manchester. Positions are available from September, with earlier start dates considered for suitable candidates. This is a long-term opportunity, with additional day-to-day supply work also available.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support teaching and learning across the primary curriculum. You will deliver planned lessons during teacher absence, lead whole-class learning, and provide targeted interventions to individuals and small groups to help pupils achieve their full potential.

The role will involve planning and delivering learning activities, assessing pupil progress, adapting lessons to meet a range of learning needs, and supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of pupils. You will play an important role in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and well-structured learning environment where children feel supported and motivated to succeed.

Working alongside teachers, SEN staff, and other support professionals, you will contribute to raising standards of attainment, promoting positive behaviour, and ensuring all pupils receive high-quality learning opportunities throughout the school day.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), Senior Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor with primary experience, Learning Mentor, or an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take on greater responsibility.

Requirements

To be considered for this Higher Level Teaching Assistant position in Denton, you should have:

  • HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification, or significant experience working at HLTA level within a primary school.
  • Experience leading whole-class learning and delivering lessons across the primary age range.
  • Confidence planning and delivering targeted interventions and adapting learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning, wellbeing, and personal development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with pupils, teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • A reliable, proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a wider school team.
