Team Leader - Mental Health

Central Recruitment is working with one of the UK's oldest not-for-profit housing associations. They focus on providing good quality housing services and making a positive difference in communities.

Our client is currently recruiting for a Team Leader to work in the Southwark area at a service that provides high quality support to people who have a history of serious mental illness and substance misuse.

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
  • Shifts: 09:00 - 17:00 (flexibility is required to occasionally work outside of these hours)
  • Temporary: approx. 2-3 months
  • £21.20 per hour (£18.92 per hour, with £2.28 holiday pay)

Please note: you may be required to work across other services in the South London area.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team, ensuring training, development and compliance are up to date
  • Promote strengths-based, recovery-focused, person-centred and trauma-informed practice
  • Manage staffing levels, rotas and recruitment to maintain service delivery
  • Support customers' recovery, independence, social inclusion, education, employment and move-on
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to establish and develop new services
  • Deliver recovery-focused group sessions for customers
  • Manage incidents and safeguarding concerns in line with policy
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, security and fire safety procedures
  • Build effective partnerships, produce KPI reports and attend performance meetings

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience effectively managing staff
  • Relevant mental health and dual diagnosis experience and knowledge
  • Experience managing budgets effectively
  • Knowledge and experience of protecting vulnerable clients from abuse
  • Knowledge of best practice in mental health support
  • Knowledge of outcome monitoring and meeting legal and contractual requirements
  • Ability to supervise and manage a dispersed staff team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • IT literacy of using databases and MS Office packages

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
