Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Thurrock Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Team Manager – Children’s this role will be: RM176SL, In office minimum of one week on duty, two days per week outside of duty and then as required.

The right candidate will:

The Team Manager will be responsible for leading and managing a Family Help team to deliver safe, high-quality services to children and families.

  • The postholder provides leadership and oversight of casework, ensuring cases are allocated appropriately, plans are current, risks are effectively managed, and children receive timely interventions.
  • They are responsible for supervising and supporting practitioners, providing professional guidance, maintaining practice standards, and ensuring staff receive regular supervision, performance management, and opportunities for professional development.
  • A key aspect of the role is managing team performance, resources, and workforce planning. This includes monitoring quality and performance indicators, overseeing recording and compliance requirements, managing staffing issues such as recruitment, retention, attendance, and performance, and contributing to budget management.
  • The Team Manager is expected to use performance data and management information to inform decision-making and support service development.
  • The Team Manager represents the service in multi-agency settings, chairs meetings, works collaboratively with colleagues and partners, and contributes to the wider strategic direction of Children’s Services.

We require the following:

  • The successful candidate will be a qualified and registered social worker with significant post-qualification experience in children's services.
  • Strong knowledge of Early Help, safeguarding and child protection legislation, proven leadership and staff management skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement, equality, diversity, and high-quality practice.
