Technical Assessor - Fabrication and Welding

We have an excellent opportunity for a Technical Assessor to deliver and assess on apprenticeships within Plate Welder and Metal Fabricator. This will include, classroom delivery, workplace visits, regular employer reviews, updating relevant eportfolio systems as well as liaising with relevant awarding organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

Be a member of course teams responsible for the effective and efficient organisation and delivery of high quality learning programmes.

Managing a caseload of learners ensuring timely progression of their chosen qualification and/ or apprenticeship.

Undertake a range of administration and programme leadership duties as well as undertaking teaching duties. Maintain learner records accurately and ensure all evidence for all visits is readily available and accessible for audit and quality purposes.

Proactively contribute to curriculum and self-development (including CPD) aligned to current and future business need and supporting growth of the curriculum.

Proactively work with Management and Business Development in order to maintain targeted caseload numbers in line with the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) contract value and Employer Levy expectations and to support recruitment and marketing activities

To engage and work with learners and employers all to ensure all training solutions delivered meet both the requirements of the common inspection framework and any mandatory auditable processes.

Identification and assessment of students’ needs and progress including pre-placement and start up visits in-line with agreed procedures

Plan, design and develop high quality training and sessions that drive student progress. Ensure all learners’ visits adhere to their agreed learning plan in line with the qualification/ framework/ standard guidelines and requirements.

Monitor learners’ progression and ensure all forms of delivery, learning and assessment for each element of the apprenticeship/ qualification is completed enabling learners to meet the criteria for either the end assessment or the achievement of the chosen qualification.

Design and innovative assessment strategies to assess learning and students’ achievements, including mock end assessment duties (where applicable), to prepare learners for end point assessment as appropriate.

Work with employers to ensure that learners are entered for End Assessment at a point that is agreed when the learner is ready.

Monitor the quality performance of the programme(s), making timely and effective interventions to ensure positive impact for students

Job Requirements:

Qualfied to the industry-recognised standard in a relevant field, hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.

It is desirable that the candidate has experience of effective programme leadership in Apprenticeships and has a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice.

Experience of effective programme leadership in FE,HE and/ or apprenticeships

Proven track record of successful teaching and assessment and contributing to curriculum design

Industry experience and knowledge of fabrication and welding sector
