Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Lead to join their innovative product engineering team. This role is an exciting opportunity to guide a cross-functional squad in creating scalable and high-quality products that enhance customer and merchant experiences in the technology space.

About the Role: Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Technical Lead will blend hands-on technical leadership with mentoring and architectural decision-making. This role sets the standard for engineering excellence and fosters collaboration across Product and Data teams to ensure that systems are secure, reliable, and performant at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example, delivering high-quality, maintainable code that supports the organisation's platform and customers at scale.
  • Set the technical direction for your squad, empowering the team to make sound engineering decisions and continuously improve.
  • Coach and mentor engineers through regular one-on-ones, technical reviews, and development plans to enhance their confidence and capabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with Product to transform ideas into technically achievable and scalable solutions.
  • Partner with the Data team to ensure new features generate meaningful insights and measurable outcomes.
  • Take ownership of performance, scalability, reliability, and security throughout the design and development process.
  • Monitor delivery performance, looking for opportunities to reduce cycle times and improve deployment frequency while maintaining code quality.
  • Contribute to platform modernisation by participating in architecture discussions and helping define best practises.
  • Introduce curiosity and innovation, recommending new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support recruitment efforts by reviewing technical assessments, interviewing candidates, and fostering a strong, diverse engineering team.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proven experience as a senior or lead software engineer in a modern SaaS, MarTech, or data-driven environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Framework) is essential for success in this role.
  • Frontend experience with React and TypeScript (or similar modern frameworks) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and build high-performing, collaborative teams.
  • Experience leading in an agile, cloud-native environment (Docker, Kubernetes, GCP/AWS).
  • Solid understanding of software design principles, testing practises, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Comfortable influencing without authority and aligning technical decisions with business goals.
  • Strong communication skills, thriving in cross-functional collaboration, particularly with Product and Data teams.
