Technical Lead

Sapien Engineering are looking for a Technical Lead to join an Aerospace business on a contract basis.

This is a 12-month contract, outside of IR35 paying circa £50 per hour. This is an on-site role based in Derby, Derbyshire.

An established engineering organisation specialising in advanced aerospace testing solutions is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to drive the development and delivery of high-fidelity test rigs used to validate complex aerospace and turbomachinery subsystems.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead delivery of test and demonstration rig projects from concept to commissioning.

• Define system and programme requirements with customers and internal teams.

• Oversee design and integration of mechanical, fluid, electrical, and instrumentation systems.

• Review and approve technical documentation including CAD, drawings, wiring diagrams.

• Provide technical leadership during build, commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation.

Skills / Experience

• Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.

• Strong aerospace gas turbine sector experience.

• Experience designing rotating machinery test rigs or ground support equipment.

• Strong mechanical design, manufacturing, and assembly knowledge.
