Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a specialist manufacturer to recruit a Technical Project Leader to join their established R&D function.

This is a senior technical opportunity for an experienced formulation chemist or scientist with a background in industrial lubricants and/or greases, looking to take ownership of innovation projects and play a key role in shaping future product development.

Working across R&D, Product Management, Operations and Commercial teams, you will lead technical projects from initial concept through formulation, validation, scale-up and commercial launch, while acting as the technical specialist for your product area.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of new industrial lubricant and grease products from concept to commercialisation.
  • Develop formulations and experimental programmes to deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions.
  • Support manufacturing scale-up and technology transfer to ensure robust production processes.
  • Work closely with Product Management to translate market requirements into technical development projects.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers and external test houses to validate product performance.
  • Monitor industry developments, emerging technologies and competitor activity to support future innovation.
  • Mentor colleagues and provide technical expertise across cross-functional teams.
We're looking for:
  • Degree qualified in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Tribology or a related scientific discipline (MSc or PhD advantageous).
  • Significant experience within industrial lubricants, greases or closely related formulation environments.
  • Proven experience developing and formulating industrial lubricant products.
  • Experience taking products through laboratory development, testing and manufacturing scale-up.
  • Strong understanding of formulation chemistry, raw materials and performance testing.
  • Confident working across technical and commercial teams, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills and a genuine passion for innovation.
