Our client is investing heavily in new talent and they’re looking for a Gas Turbine Technician/Mechanic who wants a long‑term, stable career in a niche and highly respected engineering environment. You’ll work on Honeywell 131‑9 and ALF 502/507 engines, supporting strip, build, inspection and test activity within a close‑knit, high‑standards team.

Why this role appeals to the right person

  • You’ll receive extensive training, structured development and full support to progress.
  • You’ll gain exposure across departments, learning the full lifecycle of gas turbine production.
  • You’ll join a business that values accuracy, documentation, tool control and trace.
  • You’ll be trusted to work independently once approved, but always backed by a collaborative team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Strip, build, inspect and test gas turbine production engines
  • Routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs
  • Disassembly and assembly of complex components
  • Testing and commissioning
  • Interpreting technical data, manuals and engineering instructions
  • Using a variety of tooling, CNC machinery and workshop equipment
  • Maintaining documentation, traceability and compliance to Part‑145 standards

Essential skills (non‑negotiable)

  • Current, hands‑on mechanical experience (within the last 12 months)
  • Strong IT capability — daily use of Access databases and digital documentation
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a tight team
  • Confident interpreting technical manuals, drawings and data
  • Willingness to rotate between departments and learn new areas as the business evolves
  • Commitment to long‑term development — they invest heavily in training and expect the same dedication in return

Ideal backgrounds

The business operates in a niche sector, so we welcome candidates from comparable environments:

  • Aviation / Aerospace (Part‑145, MRO, APU, engine shop)
  • Vehicle technicians with strong mechanical strip/build skills who want to transition into aerospace
  • Industrial turbine, rotating machinery, precision engineering or CNC backgrounds

If you understand the importance of tool control, documentation accuracy and engineering discipline, you’ll fit in well.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs grade C/5 or above including English, Maths and Science
  • Proven hands‑on mechanical experience
  • Ability to follow Health & Safety requirements
  • Good computer literacy
  • Physically fit and comfortable with standing for long periods

Working hours & salary

  • £42,000–46,000 starting salary depending on experience, with scope to increase
  • Flexible working patterns
  • Typical shifts: 07:30–16:00 or 08:00–16:30
  • We can tailor hours for the right candidate
