We're recruiting on behalf of a specialist manufacturer based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. This is a hands-on toolroom role supporting production by maintaining, repairing and manufacturing tooling and machine components to tight tolerances.

The role

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on a range of precision tooling
• Operate manual milling machines, lathes and surface grinders 
• Read, interpret and work from technical drawings
• Collaborate and support with the production team
• Play a part in ongoing improvements to tooling and processes

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a toolmaker or precision machinist in a production environment
• Strong knowledge of toolroom equipment and practices
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work to deadlines
• Commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or toolmaking (desirable)
