This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in light vehicle maintenance who is looking to move into the commercial vehicle industry. You’ll receive practical, hands-on training while earning a salary, with the opportunity to achieve a Level 3 HGV Technician qualification upon successful completion of the programme.
Trainee HGV Technician Role:
This position would suit someone who already holds a Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and is keen to develop their technical knowledge and build a long-term career working with heavy goods vehicles.
Working alongside experienced HGV technicians, you’ll develop your skills through a combination of practical workshop experience, mentoring, and structured training.
Trainee HGV Technician Responsibilities:
- Support the servicing, maintenance, and repair of HGVs
- Work alongside qualified technicians carrying out fault finding, diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle inspections
- Develop knowledge of commercial vehicle systems including air brakes, suspension, hydraulics, and electrics
- Complete the required training and assessments towards your Level 3 HGV Technician qualification
- Follow workshop health and safety procedures at all times
- Ensure job sheets, maintenance records, and other documentation are completed accurately
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and workshop cleanliness
Trainee HGV Technician Benefits:

- Full UK driving licence
