Trainee Maintenance Engineer
Location: Tunstead, Norfolk
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000
Hours: 48 hours per week
Recently completed an Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC or HND and looking for the opportunity to build your career as a Maintenance Engineer?
We're recruiting for a successful manufacturing business in Norfolk that is looking for someone at the beginning of their engineering career to join its established maintenance team.
You don't need years of maintenance experience.
This could suit someone who has recently finished an engineering apprenticeship or qualification and now wants a role where they can develop practical **mechanical and electrical maintenance skills** alongside experienced engineers.
What will you learn?
Working as part of the site's engineering team, you'll develop hands-on experience across:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Mechanical maintenance and repairs
- Electrical fault finding
- Machinery breakdowns
- Motors, gearboxes, bearings and conveyors
- Production and manufacturing equipment
- Machinery adjustments and changeovers
- Fault diagnosis and problem solving
- Continuous improvement
You'll initially work closely with experienced Maintenance Engineers, with your responsibility increasing as your skills and confidence develop.
Who are we looking for?
We're particularly interested in speaking with people who have recently completed:
- Engineering Apprenticeship
- NVQ Level 3 Engineering
- BTEC Engineering
- HNC/HND Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering qualification
- Electrical Engineering qualification
- Mechatronics or similar engineering qualification
Previous food manufacturing experience isn't required.
You could currently be working as an Engineering Apprentice, Engineering Technician, Junior Engineer, Mechanical Technician, Electrical Technician or Production Engineer and looking to take your next step into maintenance.
What's most important is that you're hands-on, mechanically or electrically minded and genuinely want to develop into a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer.

Working hours
The role works a 48-hour week, rotating between:
- Monday–Friday: 07:00–17:10
- Tuesday–Saturday: Tuesday–Friday 08:50–19:00 and Saturday 07:00–17:10
Due to the site's location, you'll need a driving licence and your own transport.
