About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the finance team of a well-established manufacturing business.

Reporting directly to the existing Management Accountant, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance career and progress towards a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA or CIMA.

The role will provide broad exposure across transactional finance, month-end processes, management accounts and financial reporting, with the opportunity to develop your technical accounting skills within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities for Assistant Management Accountant:

• Processing and posting supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Matching purchase orders to invoices and resolving discrepancies.
• Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliation's.
• Maintaining customer credit limits and supporting credit control activities.
• Assisting with month-end close procedures.
• Completing month-end sales reconciliation's and analysis.
• Preparing month-end journals.
• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Assisting with VAT returns and ensuring HMRC requirements are met.
• Liaising with suppliers and customers regarding invoice and payment queries.
• Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems.
• Supporting financial analysis, reporting and audit preparation.
• Helping to develop finance procedures, process guides and workflows.
• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across finance processes.

Key Experience:

• Previous experience within an accounts or finance administration role.
• Good working knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.
• Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar.
• An understanding of VAT and basic tax principles.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems would be advantageous.
• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above.
• Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment would be desirable.
• Ideally working towards, or looking to work towards, ACCA or CIMA.
