An exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport & Fleet Planning Manager to join a well-established company in Runcorn.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in transport planning, fleet planning and logistics operations who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and using data to improve performance.

During the first six months, you will lead a national logistics project while learning about the business and its operations. You will coordinate equipment availability, stock movements and service visits, working with internal teams and commercial partners to maintain reliable service delivery.

Following this initial phase, the role will develop into broader transport planning, fleet planning and day-to-day operational coordination. You will plan work for approximately 12-15 engineers alongside drivers, vehicles and equipment, ensuring resources are used safely and effectively.

You will coordinate the engineers' schedules and workload without having direct reports, and take ownership of relationships with external transport and logistics partners.

As a Transport & Fleet Planning Manager, you will be responsible for:

You will bring structure to a busy national operation, making sure the right people, vehicles and equipment are available where and when they are needed. When priorities change or problems arise, you will adjust the plan, organise a response and keep everyone informed.

  • Building daily and weekly transport plans, coordinating engineers, drivers, vehicles and equipment.
  • Managing fleet planning, resource availability and schedules across multiple locations.
  • Using operational data and dashboards to identify risks, prioritise action and track completion.
  • Prioritising urgent operational issues, coordinating the right resources and tracking them through to resolution.
  • Taking ownership of commercial partners, monitoring service levels, capacity, costs and quality.
  • Coordinating vehicle maintenance, availability and relevant transport compliance requirements.
  • Creating clear planning processes, reporting and escalation procedures to improve visibility and control.
  • Improving logistics operations by reducing unnecessary journeys, repeat visits and avoidable costs.

The successful Transport & Fleet Planning Manager will have:

  • Previous experience as a Transport Planning Manager, Fleet Planning Manager, Logistics Manager, Transport Manager, or an experienced Transport Planner or Fleet Planner with broader operational responsibility.
  • Strong transport planning, fleet planning and resource coordination experience.
  • A data-driven approach, with strong Excel skills and confidence using planning systems, dashboards or vehicle tracking tools.
  • Experience managing external suppliers or commercial partners against service and cost expectations.
  • An understanding of vehicle maintenance, fleet compliance and transport requirements.
  • A proactive, organised approach and the ability to make practical decisions under pressure.
  • Confidence coordinating engineers, drivers and colleagues across different locations.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake occasional UK travel.
  • Transport Manager CPC is desirable, although not essential.
  • Office-based for the first six months, with occasional UK travel thereafter

On offer

  • £40'000- 60,000 per annum depending on experience
  • Permanent, full-time position based in Runcorn.
  • A varied role combining project ownership, transport planning, fleet planning and logistics management.
  • The opportunity to shape planning processes and improve national operational performance.

If you are an experienced Transport Planning Manager, Fleet Planner, Logistics Manager or Transport Manager looking for your next challenge, we would love to hear from you.
