TRANSPORT COORDINATOR

£35,000–£37,000 | Sleaford | General Haulage

An established transport business in Sleaford is looking for an experienced Transport Coordinator to join its busy transport team.

This is a varied role supporting a general haulage, UK-wide deliveries operations, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced transport environment where priorities can change throughout the day.

You'll work closely with drivers, customers and the wider transport team to make sure vehicles are utilised effectively, collections and deliveries run to schedule and any operational issues are dealt with quickly.


THE TRANSPORT COORDINATOR ROLE

•   Coordinate daily transport movements across the general haulage operation.

•   Allocate work to drivers and ensure collections and deliveries are completed efficiently.

•   Assist with planning UK-wide general haulage movements and identifying opportunities for return loads.

•   Coordinate pallet network work and ensure customer requirements are met.

•   Maintain regular communication with drivers throughout the day.

•   Liaise with customers regarding collections, deliveries and any changes to schedules.

•   Monitor vehicle progress and react quickly to delays, breakdowns or other operational issues.

•   Process customer orders and maintain accurate information on the transport management system.

•   Check, process and upload PODs and other transport documentation.

•   Support transport administration including invoice checking and record keeping.

•   Provide holiday and sickness cover across the transport office.

•   Monitor service levels and KPIs and help identify opportunities to improve efficiency.

•   Work closely with colleagues to ensure the safe and efficient running of the operation.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone with previous experience in transport coordination, transport planning or haulage operations.

You should be:

•   Comfortable working in a busy transport environment.

•   Confident communicating with HGV drivers and customers.

•   Organised and able to manage multiple priorities.

•   Able to make quick decisions when plans change.

•   IT literate with good Microsoft Office skills.

•   Knowledgeable about UK transport operations and geography.

•   A good team player who is happy to support different areas of the operation.

Experience of general haulage, backloads or pallet network operations would be particularly useful, although the right transport professional with a strong operational background will be considered.
