Streamline Recruitment are excited to be working with a well-established and trusted client who are looking to add an Import Operations Coordinator to their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in UK imports, freight forwarding or customs who enjoys a varied, hands-on role and is confident managing shipments from arrival through to delivery.
You’ll be responsible for coordinating import movements, ensuring the relevant paperwork is in place, liaising with customers and third parties, and helping to ensure goods are cleared and delivered efficiently. You’ll also work closely with internal teams to resolve any issues and keep shipments progressing.
The Role
- Coordinate import shipments throughout the full delivery process
- Check and process relevant import and shipping documentation
- Liaise with customers, overseas partners, suppliers and transport providers
- Ensure information required for customs clearance is accurate and available
- Assist with customs clearance and follow shipments through to release
- Apply knowledge of UK import procedures, including customs entries, duty, VAT, Incoterms and commodity classification
- Identify potential clearance issues and work proactively to resolve them
- Keep customers updated on shipment progress and any relevant delays or changes
- Coordinate with hauliers, ports, depots and other service providers
- Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure systems are kept up to date
- Escalate any operational or customs issues where appropriate
- Support the wider operations team during busy periods
About You
Essential:
- Around 2–3 years’ experience within UK import operations, freight forwarding or customs
- Good understanding of the import and customs clearance process
- Comfortable working with commercial and shipping documentation
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable:
- Experience using freight forwarding or customs systems
- Knowledge of Multifreight would be advantageous
- Experience handling different types of commodities and understanding relevant import requirements
- Previous experience preparing or completing customs entries
Salary & Benefits
- £35,000–£39,000, depending on experience
- 20 days’ annual leave + UK bank holidays
- Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30
