Transport & Highways CAD Technician
I'm working with a transport planning consultancy looking to recruit a CAD Technician to join its team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with AutoCAD experience who wants to develop their technical skills within a specialist transport planning environment. Previous highways or transport planning experience would be advantageous but isn't essential, so the role could suit a CAD Technician looking to broaden their experience and build a long-term career in the sector.
You'll work alongside experienced transport planners and technical staff on a varied portfolio of projects, supporting everything from initial feasibility and planning applications through to detailed design.
The Role
- Producing accurate 2D CAD drawings for transport planning and highways projects.
- Preparing site layouts, highway access arrangements, junction layouts and parking plans.
- Assisting with vehicle tracking, swept-path analysis and visibility splays.
- Producing drawings covering servicing arrangements, highway improvements and pedestrian/cycle infrastructure.
- Working from architectural drawings, topographical surveys and other technical information.
- Updating drawings in response to feedback from clients and project teams.
- Supporting the preparation of planning application drawings and technical reports.
- Working closely with transport planners and senior technicians to deliver high-quality project work.
What They're Looking For
- Previous professional experience using AutoCAD.
- A good understanding of 2D CAD drawing principles.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- An interest in developing your technical knowledge within transport planning and highways.
Experience in a transport planning, highways or civil engineering consultancy would be beneficial, as would familiarity with AutoTrack, highway layouts and UK highway design guidance.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Career progression: Regular reviews, ongoing support and clear opportunities to develop your technical skills and progress your career.
- Interesting project work: Exposure to a varied portfolio of transport projects, including innovative mobility solutions and sustainable development.
- Professional development: Opportunities to attend industry events, learn from experienced colleagues and build your knowledge of the transport planning sector.
- Bonus and benefits: Company pension and discretionary annual bonus.
- Team culture: Regular monthly socials and an annual company away day, alongside a supportive environment where people are encouraged to develop and succeed.
The consultancy is actively involved in transport planning research and innovation, offering the opportunity to contribute to new approaches to mobility and the future of transport.
If you're an AutoCAD Technician looking for a new opportunity with genuine scope to develop your skills and career, get in touch for a confidential discussion.
