Job Title: Transport Planner – Logistics
Location: Leicestershire
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time, 4 on 4 off (Days)

The Role
A logistics operation in Leicestershire is recruiting a Transport Planner to plan and build efficient delivery and collection routes for a regional fleet operating on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

What the role involves

  • Building the daily transport plan for the region: routes, trucks, timings
  • Maximising vehicle utilisation and minimising empty running
  • Working closely with the Section Leader and Deputy to ensure plans are realistic and deliverable
  • Reacting to live issues such as driver delays, breakdowns and last-minute customer changes
  • Arranging subcontracted cover where in-house capacity is exceeded

What's needed

  • Proven transport planning experience within haulage, distribution or logistics
  • Strong working knowledge of transport planning software/systems
  • Good communication skills — this role works hand-in-hand with the operational team, not in isolation
  • A collaborative mindset — full accountability sits with the whole team, not just planning
