Transport Planner

We are working with an award-winning transport and logistics business to recruit a Transport Planner. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established operation specialising in construction logistics, where you'll support the Senior Planning Team in delivering an efficient, customer-focused transport operation.
Working on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day execution of the transport plan, ensuring deliveries and collections run smoothly while maintaining excellent communication with drivers, customers and internal teams. This role would suit someone with previous transport planning experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is looking to further develop their career.

- Support the Senior Planning Team with the day-to-day execution of the transport plan
- Manage planning inbox communications and prioritise requests effectively
- Communicate daily plans to drivers and subcontractors
- Liaise with drivers to resolve operational issues and ensure deliveries and collections are completed on time
- Debrief drivers, accurately recording journey information, trailer numbers and demurrage
- Assist with driver hours and timesheet management
- Escalate operational issues to Senior Planners where appropriate
- Work closely with Customer Services and Operations to maintain high service levels
We are looking for an organised and proactive Transport Planner with previous planning experience who enjoys working in a busy logistics environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within a Transport Planner, Transport Coordinator or Logistics Planning role
- Experience working within a transport, logistics or distribution environment
- Knowledge of Transport Management Systems (TMS)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and adapt quickly to changing operational demands
- A proactive approach with strong attention to detail
- Confidence communicating with drivers, customers and internal stakeholders
- CPC qualification
- Class 1 Licence
- Experience within construction logistics or flatbed operations
- Customer Service qualification
