Transport Planner in Burntwood, Staffordshire

Location: Burntwood
Working Pattern: On-site | Monday-Friday, 12:00pm-8:00pm
Salary: Up to £32,000 DOE

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established global logistics and supply chain business for an experienced Transport Planner to join their Burntwood operation.

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating UK road freight collections and deliveries, working closely with hauliers, customers and internal teams to ensure transport operations run efficiently and service levels are maintained.

You will play a key role in monitoring vehicle movements, resolving issues and making proactive decisions throughout the day.

• Plan and coordinate daily UK collections and deliveries.
• Monitor vehicle movements and proactively manage delays or service issues.
• Ensure planned transport activity is completed efficiently and within required timescales.
• Liaise with hauliers and transport partners to coordinate collections and deliveries.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors and transport providers.
• React quickly to breakdowns, traffic disruption, delays and customer changes, re-planning work where necessary.
• Prioritise urgent and time-critical shipments to maintain excellent service levels.
• Ensure effective utilisation of vehicles, hauliers and available transport resources.
• Maintain accurate shipment and transport records using internal systems.
• Complete transport administration accurately and within required deadlines.
• Assist with customer queries and resolve transport-related issues professionally.
• Support the wider operations team when required.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within UK road freight, transport planning, transport coordination or general haulage.

You will need:

• Previous experience in UK transport planning or road freight.
• Good knowledge of UK transport operations and geography.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Experience liaising with hauliers, subcontractors or transport partners.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Experience using a Transport Management System or logistics software.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience within pallet networks, general haulage, subcontractor management, transport compliance or KPI reporting would be advantageous.
