Transport Supervisor

Location: Thatcham, Berkshire

Woodland Logistics are recruiting a Transport Supervisor for our team in Thatcham, Berkshire. Based at a customer site and reporting to the Contract Manager, you will support the transport team in delivering an effective and efficient operation that meets customer requirements.

About the Role

  • Supervise and communicate site work allocation, ensuring service and cost requirements are met.
  • Support the central transport team with operational matters and ad-hoc transport requests.
  • Ensure customer requirements and procedures are consistently met.
  • Monitor service delivery and address concerns or failures appropriately.
  • Maintain effective communication with management, drivers, customers and the wider transport team.
  • Manage driver workflow, daily debriefs and correct PDA use, including status and signature reporting.
  • Maintain accurate operational and transport documentation.
  • Assist with vehicle maintenance and ensure the fleet remains roadworthy.
  • Support driver and team concerns to encourage a safe and effective workforce.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant transport legislation and Operating Licence requirements.
  • Promote company policies, procedures and health & safety.
  • Support process improvements, contract-specific projects and other duties required by management.

Personal Specification

  • Experience in a similar role within the logistics or fleet management industry.
  • Resilient, process-driven, self-starter who can work under pressure and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work thoroughly and methodically, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team as well as key stakeholders across the group.
  • Natural ability and enjoyment in building and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Ability to excel within a team environment as well as work autonomously when required.
  • Flexible, adaptable and open-minded, responding well to ever-changing priorities and challenges while remaining calm and focused on getting the job done.
  • Proactive in looking at ways to improve processes, with the initiative to put them forward and, where possible, into practice.
  • Actively seek ways to enhance your knowledge and improve your performance.
  • Self-motivated, with drive and ambition – you thrive off achieving great success and helping to build a great place to work.
