Flexible People Ltd are currently recruiting Van Drivers – Mossend to work for a well-established client based in Mossend. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and reliable Van Driver – Mossend to join a busy delivery operation, delivering large items to residential customers.

The role will primarily involve van driving and customer deliveries, with drivers potentially also being required to work as a Drivers Mate alongside experienced 7.5t lorry drivers when required.

We are looking for candidates who are confident driving, physically fit, reliable and comfortable dealing directly with customers. There may also be opportunities for additional work as a Drivers Mate depending on operational requirements.

The Role

As a Van Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of large items to residential properties, including:

• Flat-pack furniture
• Gym equipment
• White goods
• Other large household items

The role involves both driving and manual handling, so a good level of physical fitness is required.

You may also have the opportunity to work as a Drivers Mate alongside a 7.5t lorry driver. This could involve assisting with deliveries, heavy lifting, customer service and acting as a Banksman when the vehicle is reversing.

Working Hours & Shifts

• The client operates 7 days a week
• Weekly allocation of 4 shifts
• Opportunity to work up to 5 or 6 shifts if desired
• Weekend work is required and expected
• Start time: 06:00
• Shift length: approximately 9–11 hours per day

Key Responsibilities

As a Van Driver, your responsibilities will include:

• Safely driving the company van to residential delivery locations
• Delivering goods safely and efficiently
• Loading and unloading items
• Carrying and moving heavy goods
• Calling customers ahead of arrival to provide delivery updates
• Providing excellent customer service
• Completing delivery paperwork and following company procedures
• Maintaining the cleanliness and condition of the vehicle
• Working safely and responsibly at all times

When required to work as a Drivers Mate, duties may include:

Assisting the 7.5t driver with deliveries

Safely handling and moving heavy items

Assisting with customer deliveries

Acting as a Banksman when the lorry is reversing

Working as part of a two-person delivery team

Full Banksman training will be provided.

Requirements

To be considered for this Van Driver position, you must:

• Hold a full UK driving licence
• Have suitable driving experience
• Be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items
• Be reliable, organised and punctual
• Have strong communication and customer service skills
• Have your own reliable transport, as you must be able to commute to Mossend for 06:00 starts
• Be willing and able to work at least one day every weekend
• Be comfortable carrying out manual handling duties
• Own your own steel toe-cap safety boots and high-visibility vest

Experience in multi-drop, home delivery, furniture delivery, white goods delivery or similar work would be advantageous.

Training & Compliance

Attendance at a mandatory induction day is required before starting

Drug testing may be carried out at any time, including during induction

Full Banksman training will be provided where required

All drivers must comply with company health and safety procedures

Pay

£13.05 per hour

£19.58 per hour overtime, paid for hours worked over 48 hours per week
