Salary: £26,000 to £28,000 per annum
Holiday Entitlement: 25 days plus public holidays

Top Marks Education is delighted to be supporting an established Alternative Education Provision in the recruitment of a passionate and inspiring Vocational Tutor (Hair & Beauty).

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated Alternative Education Provision, supporting young people to develop vocational skills, confidence and positive progression pathways outside of mainstream education.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging Hair & Beauty programmes, supporting learner achievement and contributing to the ongoing quality and development of provision.

The Role

As a Vocational Tutor (Hair & Beauty), you will be responsible for the effective delivery and coordination of vocational training programmes within the Alternative Education Provision.

You will provide guidance, mentoring and support to learners, helping them develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for future success. The role requires a creative and energetic approach to teaching, delivering engaging sessions across face-to-face, hybrid and online learning environments.

You will also take an active role in maintaining quality standards, safeguarding learners and contributing to the organisation's Quality Assurance Framework.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Delivery

Coordinate and oversee the effective delivery of Hair & Beauty programmes.

Deliver engaging lessons, workshops and online learning sessions.

Create innovative learning experiences that motivate and inspire learners.

Support learners to achieve their Individual Action Plans (IAPs), skills development targets and programme outcomes.

Build positive relationships with learners and act as the primary point of contact for Hair & Beauty provision.

Learner Support

Monitor learner progress and achievement.

Provide regular feedback and coaching to support development.

Conduct inductions, reviews and learner support meetings.

Ensure learners fully understand their programmes, learning plans and progression routes.

Provide Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) on both a group and one-to-one basis.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Support continuous improvement and quality assurance processes.

Participate in OTLA and IQA activities as required.

Maintain accurate learner records and documentation.

Ensure compliance with GDPR, Prevent, safeguarding and programme administration requirements.

Utilise internal MIS systems to record and communicate learner progress and outcomes.

Develop and maintain high-quality curriculum materials, including:

Learning Resources

Stakeholder Engagement

Work collaboratively with colleagues, learners, employers and community stakeholders.

Promote the organisation's programmes within the local community.

Support activities that strengthen the organisation's reputation and social impact.

Identify opportunities to improve programme delivery, learner outcomes and community engagement.

Facilities & Resources

Maintain a safe, organised and professional salon environment.

Ensure equipment, classrooms and workshop spaces are maintained to a high standard.

Take responsibility for the condition and security of resources within your area.

Safeguarding

Champion the organisation's safeguarding culture and commitment to learner welfare.

Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

Act as Designated Safeguarding Officer within the local region when required.

Identify and report safeguarding concerns and potential risks promptly and appropriately.

Additional Duties

Attend learner trips, events and activities as required.

Support onboarding and enrolment activities.

Work collaboratively across all teams to achieve organisational objectives.

Undertake any additional duties commensurate with the level of the role.

Candidate Profile

Essential Skills & Experience

We are particularly interested in speaking to candidates who can demonstrate:

Experience delivering Hair & Beauty training, education or vocational learning.

Experience supporting young people, particularly those who may face barriers to education.

Strong classroom, workshop and learner management skills.

Experience creating learning resources and lesson materials.

Knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent and learner welfare requirements.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to build strong relationships with learners and stakeholders.

Strong organisational and administrative skills.

Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.

Competent user of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and social media platforms.
