Warehouse Operative

Location: Lutterworth, Leicestershire
Department: Operations
Job Type: Permanent

The Opportunity

I am currently recruiting Warehouse Operatives on behalf of my client, an award-winning international designer and manufacturer of premium surfaces for the commercial and residential interiors sector.

Following significant expansion and the relocation of its Head Office and Distribution Centre to Lutterworth, Leicestershire, my client is growing its warehouse team and is looking for reliable, experienced Warehouse Operatives to join its new distribution operation.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established international business offering a modern working environment, long-term stability and an excellent benefits package.

The Role

Working as part of the warehouse and distribution team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient receipt, storage, movement, picking and preparation of stock for customer orders.

The products you will be handling include large and heavy premium surface materials, so safety, attention to detail and care when moving stock are particularly important.

You will regularly operate forklift trucks and other material handling equipment, so previous forklift experience is essential.

Full training on specific products, equipment and operating procedures will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving and checking incoming deliveries
  • Safely unloading, moving and storing stock within the warehouse
  • Operating forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment
  • Picking and preparing customer orders accurately
  • Loading vehicles safely and efficiently for customer deliveries
  • Handling large, heavy and fragile products with appropriate care
  • Checking products for damage and reporting any issues
  • Maintaining accurate stock locations and supporting stock counts
  • Following stock rotation and warehouse procedures
  • Keeping warehouse areas clean, organised and safe
  • Carrying out routine equipment checks and reporting defects
  • Following all company health and safety procedures
  • Working closely with Warehouse Team Leaders, drivers and other colleagues to ensure orders are completed on time
  • Supporting the wider warehouse operation during busy periods

Previous experience handling large, heavy and/or fragile products would be highly desirable, particularly within industries such as construction materials, builders’ merchants, stone, timber, glass or similar environments.

Working Environment

This is a hands-on role within a busy warehouse and distribution environment.

The position involves regular use of forklift trucks, lifting equipment and warehouse machinery, alongside some manual handling in accordance with safe working practices.

Appropriate PPE will be provided and must be worn as required.

Benefits

My client offers an excellent benefits package, including:

  • 26 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Option to purchase an additional 5 days’ annual leave per year
  • Private healthcare
  • Life assurance
  • Pension salary sacrifice scheme
  • Free on-site parking
  • Electric vehicle charging
  • Access to a retail discounts portal
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Company-paid one-off will-writing service
  • Generous employee product discount

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Warehouse Operative with forklift experience looking for a stable, permanent position with a growing international business and a strong benefits package.
