The Role

You will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operation of a busy distribution centre, ensuring the warehouse operates safely, efficiently and in line with company standards and procedures.

As a Distribution Centre Supervisor, you will take responsibility for overseeing warehouse activity, monitoring operational performance and ensuring goods are received, checked, prepared and dispatched correctly. You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and compliance across the distribution centre.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing the unloading and receipt of goods into the warehouse, ensuring processes are followed correctly and efficiently
• Supervising the completion of all required delivery vehicle checks and documentation
• Ensuring relevant vehicle documentation is accurately maintained, securely filed and available for inspection when required
• Overseeing quality inspections of goods and ensuring any issues are identified and appropriate remedial action is taken
• Ensuring goods are correctly wrapped, prepared and ready for dispatch in line with company procedures and quality standards
• Supervising warehouse activity and allocating workloads to ensure operational requirements and daily targets are achieved
• Monitoring individual and team performance, addressing issues where required and ensuring expected standards are maintained
• Taking an active role in managing Health & Safety across the distribution centre and ensuring company procedures are consistently followed
• Monitoring manual handling practices and ensuring colleagues operate warehouse equipment and handle goods safely
• Supervising the safe movement and handling of furniture and carpets throughout the warehouse
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the distribution centre and vehicles
• Carrying out regular checks to ensure warehouse and vehicle standards are maintained
• Identifying operational issues and taking appropriate action to maintain an efficient and safe working environment
• Providing direction and guidance to warehouse colleagues as required to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
• Undertaking manual handling and heavy lifting as required

We're looking for a confident and experienced warehouse professional who is ready to take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of a busy distribution operation.

You will be comfortable making decisions, maintaining standards and ensuring processes are followed, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful, you'll have:

• Previous experience in a warehouse supervisory or senior operational role
• Experience overseeing warehouse activity and managing day-to-day workloads
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The confidence to provide direction, challenge where required and ensure standards are maintained
• A strong understanding of workplace health and safety procedures
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise operational requirements
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational issues
• The ability to monitor performance and ensure processes and procedures are followed
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider management and warehouse team
• The ability to undertake manual handling and heavy lifting
