Water Hygiene Engineer - Team Leader

Complii · Direct employer

We’re seeking an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer – Team Leader to join Sweetbriar. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Water Hygiene Engineer who is ready to take the next step into a supervisory role. You’ll combine your hands-on technical expertise with the leadership and development of a small team of engineers, while carrying out and overseeing water hygiene, Legionella risk management and remedial works across residential, commercial and specialist client sites. You’ll play a key role in ensuring water systems remain safe, compliant and effectively managed in line with HSG274, ACOP L8 and current industry best practice.

What you receive for joining us:

We are offering a competitive salary, and, in addition, you'll have access to a company van, company pension scheme, free/on-site parking, ongoing training and professional development, including support towards further qualifications, and 28 days' annual leave including bank holidays. You'll also have the opportunity to develop your career by taking on increased technical and leadership responsibility within a growing water hygiene business.  This role will see you working hybrid (travelling to sites locally/nationwide and to our office based in Eastleigh 1-2 times per week).

Here's a look at some of the things you'll be doing:

  • Carry out and oversee Legionella risk assessments, reviews and remedial works in line with HSG274 and ACOP L8, while supervising a team of water hygiene engineers and providing day-to-day technical guidance, support and direction
  • Conduct quality checks and audits of completed works and documentation, support and mentor junior engineers, act as an escalation point for technical and on-site issues, and assist with training, toolbox talks and sharing best practice
  • Assist management with reviewing and interpreting Legionella, TVC/APC and other sample results, advising on appropriate corrective actions, and ensure flushing regimes, temperature monitoring, descaling and disinfection works are completed correctly and accurately recorded
  • Support the improvement of internal processes, procedures and reporting standards, while travelling to client sites to assist junior engineers and the wider water hygiene team and participating in the callout rota, approximately 1 week in 5

Can you show experience in some of these areas:

  • Proven experience as a Water Hygiene Engineer with a strong working knowledge of HSG274 and ACOP L8, together with hands-on experience of risk assessments, water sampling, temperature monitoring, descaling and disinfection works
  • Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds Legionella Control, LCA or WMSoc training would be desirable, alongside a genuine interest in continuing your professional development and progressing into a formal leadership position
  • Previous experience mentoring, guiding or informally leading colleagues, with the communication skills and confidence to liaise professionally with clients, provide technical support and deal effectively with on-site issues
  • Well organised and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple sites and jobs, support a team and maintain high standards of quality and compliance, together with a full valid UK driving licence

Do you see yourself reflected in the description above? If so, we encourage you to submit your application today. Unsure whether your skills align perfectly? Don't hesitate to apply regardless; we value candidates with diverse skill sets and will carefully consider all applicants.
